Whitsunday Crocodile Safari: 1 Day Tour - departs Airlie Beach

See crocodiles and Australian wildlife in their natural habitat on our Whitsunday nature safari. Includes calm water cruise on Proserpine River (home to saltwater crocodiles), wagon train tour, billy tea, damper and barbeque lunch. Full commentary throughout the day by experienced, local guides.

What's Included:

  • A calm-water cruise, all year round, on the ProserpineRiverwith crocodile watching.  The Proserpine River is home to the highest density of saltwater (estuarine) crocodile per kilometre in Queensland, as well as many other residents of the mangrove habitat. 
  • An open air, elevated wagon train tour through wetlands, natural waterholes, pastures and melaleuca forest which are home to a variety of birdlife, native mammals, and reptiles.
  • Aussie BBQ lunch (vegetarians catered for on request at time of booking). 
  • Traditional bushman's damper cooked by our guides on site in a camp oven on the open fire, and of course, billy tea.
  • Courtesy bus pick ups from Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and Proserpine.
  • Comprehensive commentary delivered throughout the fully guided tour by experienced, local guides.

  • Crocodile sightings are not guaranteed because we operate in the crocodile's natural habitat, not in a fauna park or farm. But we offer the best chance of seeing crocodiles in the wild in Queensland, because we run our cruise at the lowest point of the tide each day, which provides the best opportunity to spot crocodiles as they bask on the exposed river bank.

The Safari departs from Airlie Beach at approx 8.30am and travels to Glen Isla, which is a district of Proserpine, returning in the early afternoon at approximately 3.30pm.  Our small group numbers (maximum 31 per vehicle) ensure personal contact with our experienced guides.

Inclusions/features of the Safari are:

  • Courtesy pick ups from Shute Harbour and Proserpine, and most accommodation places in Airlie Beach and Cannonvale.
  • A calm-water cruise on the Proserpine River with crocodile watching.  Proserpine River (part of the Whitsunday Marine Park) is home to the saltwater (estuarine) crocodile as well as many other residents of the mangrove habitat.
  • An open-air, tractor-drawn, wagon-train tour through nationally listed Goorganga wetlands, natural waterholes, pastures and melaleuca forest which are home to a variety of birdlife, native mammals, and reptiles.
  • Queensland mudcrab capture and display.
  • Aussie BBQ lunch (vegetarians catered for on request at time of booking).  Lunch includes fillet steak, sausages, chicken, fish, salads, bread rolls and cake.
  • Traditional bushman’s damper cooked by our guides on site in a camp oven, plus billy tea.
  • Covered campsite including picnic tables and chairs, toilet, shelter from sun, wind and rain and located in an isolated, picturesque, bushland setting with views of Proserpine River.
  • Comprehensive commentary delivered throughout the fully guided tour by experienced, local guides.
  • All included in tour price. Guests may want to bring some cash to purchase softdrinks/juices and/or souvenirs.

Departs: daily with pick ups commencing from 8.30am from set locations at Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and Proserpine

 

Returns: approximately 3.30pm back to your pick up location
