Providence V is a 62-foot gaff rigged schooner and is a well known tallship in the Whitsundays. Providence is a replica of some of the first boats to sail in the America's Cup in the 1870s - Grand Banks fishing boats. She was built out of North Queensland timber from the last of the Tully rainforest by an Australian builder. In 1992, she starred in a Hollywood movie having been spotted by some Hollywood scouts from the air. The movies, Survive the Savage Seas, starred Ali McGraw.
